How does the portal work?

The Salon IQ Booking portal offers more than just an online booking system. It serves as a powerful online sales tool, complementing your website and social media presence. In addition to boosting service revenue through suggested service upgrades, it enables you to sell retail products, gift vouchers, service courses, packages, and subscriptions (requires IQ pay). Make the most of these features for optimal outcomes.

IMPORTANT

To maximise the benefits of your online portal, it is essential to activate Stripe. This not only allows you to collect deposits for service bookings, reducing the risk of no-shows, but also transforms your portal into a round-the-clock sales tool, enabling continuous revenue generation for your business.


Boost it

  • Add your images to your online portal, we recommend adding your logo, an attractive banner image that promotes your salon, and team member photos.  
  • Use the service descriptions to provide customers with all the information they need to make an informed decision about their booking. 
  • Send an email blast to inform your clients that you offer online booking, include a button on your email to link directly to your online booking, include instructions so your clients understand how to use the system, and use the email to promote a specific offer aimed at online clients.  
  • Make use of service upgrades, these can be a great way to increase your salon’s profits, select 1 -3 upgrades per service so that you are always offering an additional extra to a client when booking.  
  • Make gift card sales available online, this can be an important revenue stream for salons with no administration required (stripe required) 
  • Make sure to include your online booking link on your social media channels and email marketing. 
  • Have clear instructions for your clients on how they use online bookings and ensure your team members are fully aware of how the system works and any promotions you have available online.  
  • Give the option to cancel appointments online, this will help with administration and reduce calls to the salon, set a time limit for cancellations, for example, an appointment cannot be cancelled online 48 hours prior to the appointment
  • Add your team members bio, highlighting their strengths. Example Colour Specialist, Cutting Creative  
  • Keep it Simple - Make sure service descriptions are client friendly, simplify your online services and once set up test it  to see what it looks like from a clients point of view
  • Use 'Deep Links' from your website. For example if you sell gift Cards then make sure you link directly to the gift card page, or if you have specific descriptions of services on your website, like ear piercing , or Team members then they can be clicked and pre select the service or team member.
  • Put your homecare online (See Best Practise Homecare Recommendations)
  • Take Deposits or full payment to reduce /eliminate late cancellations and no-shows.
  • If you are a barber or have a simple service menu use google reserve.
  • Use Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel to monitor bookings from social and web sources.
  • Collect Reviews - Use Salonspy, Google Reviews or Best Salon Guide to manage and promote your salon with reviews.

Tweaking it

If your client has visited the online booking platform, chosen a service but not booked send them a follow up email. This is what we call online chase, its to remind clients that they haven't completed their booking or if they need help choosing a service.

By offering extra services and flexible payment options, you can effectively increase your salon's earnings while also assisting clients in affording and indulging in self-care treatments.

  • Courses - Provide online courses as a means to encourage clients to return to the salon regularly. For instance, a hair salon could offer a package of five blow-dry sessions at the price of five, ensuring clients frequent the salon for consistent styling. Similarly, a beauty salon could offer a bundle of six eyebrow waxing sessions at the price of five, enticing clients to maintain their grooming routine.
  • Subscriptions - Implementing subscriptions is an excellent method to establish a steady monthly revenue stream for your salon. Clients can opt for a monthly subscription plan, granting them exclusive access to your special offers and promotional deals. By subscribing, they can enjoy ongoing benefits and privileges while ensuring consistent support for your salon.
  • Flexible Payment Options - Provide your clients with the opportunity to divide their payments using Klarna. This valuable tool is particularly beneficial for high-cost services, as it allows clients to indulge in treatments they may not typically consider. By offering this option, you empower clients to treat themselves while managing their finances more comfortably.
