IQ Best Practice - IQ Pay when your broadband/internet goes down

This guide is designed to assist you in case your salon's broadband experiences an outage.

If your broadband goes down in the salon, it can be frustrating and impact you taking any payments. It is always a good idea to have a plan in place should this ever occur.

How can I take payments when my broadband is down?

You will not be able to take card payments until your broadband is back up and running. You can however do the following.

  • Hotspot your phone - If you have a 4G or 5G phone, you can hotspot this wifi connection onto your salons computer. To do this on your phone enable hotspot, once this is done you should then see your phone as an available network on your wifi.
  • Stripe Payments - You can write the clients card details down with their consent. Once your broadband is switched back on. Go to the till screen, choose the payment type stripe. You can then enter in the clients card details. If you do this process it is important to have a shredder in the salon to destroy any client details.
  • Payment Link - Advise the client that you will send them a payment link to pay for their service. Once broadband is back on, go to the checkout screen and choose send payment link. The client can then click on this link to make their payment.
  • Cash Machine - Have knowledge to where your nearest cash machine is.
  • Contact Clients - Call any clients that are coming to the salon that day to see if they can pay by cash.

End Of Day 

  • Ensure you have collected all missed payments before closing the salon
  • Cash up as normal 
  • Set a task for the next day to chase any anomalies
