IQ Best Practice - Getting More Clients with Referrals

New Clients on Autopilote. Using SalonIQ to right way, maximising new client referrals to your salon

Referrals is the most powerful method of getting new clients, but there is a right way and a wrong way to implement it in your salon. SalonIQ has a powerful referral system G.A.S. Guest Attraction System, which can give your salon a consistent and reliable flow of new clients. And because it is all systemised the referring client will always be thanked and receive a promotion also (which avoids the main reason Salon referrals fail, i.e. because the salon forgets to reward the referring client).

How does GAS Work?

It is simplicity itself, an hour after a guest visit SalonIQ send the client a text asking them to forward it to any friends that could benefit from it. When the friend books and has their appointment they get a special promotion, and SalonIQ automatically thanks the referring client and puts a promotion on their record card for their next visit.

IMPORTANT

Do not expect to just turn GAS on and suddenly get great results. For GAS to work well your salon service must provide consistent and a high quality service, so that your clients are happy to recommend you and your team culture has to embrace and talk about referrals to their clients.

The principle:

  • Offer Existing Client a Reward for Referring Friends and Family
  • Reward New Client  for Trying your Salon
  • Thank and Reward referring client
  • Track, monitor and measure your results.

What promotion to use

We recommend you use a strong offer. We don't normally suggest discounts, but for GAS a 'SAVE 50% on any one service'  works extremely well for both the new client and the referring clients.

How to setup your promotions and messages and how to process bills

How to make it part of the salon culture

Launching it in the Salon

Creating a salon referral culture, takes time and constant re-enforcement, and once established it is important to re-visit it frequently. Below are some steps and ideas to help you launch it in your salon.

Team Meetings

The best way to introduce GAS is through a team meeting. At the meeting you should cover the following:

  • The importance and why you operate a referral scheme
  • Helping you build your column
  • How GAS works (show GAS video)
  • The promotion you are offering

Role Plays / Language

As part of the team meeting do role plays and have scripts to help the team get comfortable with the conversation. Probably the most important element to making GAS a success is getting the team to talk about it. If a client gets a text and does not know why or what they need to do with it, will drastically reduce the effectiveness.

Team incentives/KPI

A great way to boost GAS is run a team incentive, either £XX for each new client in a period, or a prize for the person who gets the most referrals. Put a GAS target on each team member and have  a GAS scorecard up in the team room or print a GAS performance graph from the SalonIQ Team Dashboard.

Tracking

Tracking the success of your referrals is simple, go to >Intelligent Marketing>GAS

Here you can see instantly how many new clients and revenue has been generated for the salon as a direct result of your referral program, in the last 7,30, this year and lifetime. Plus you can see which team members are doing the referrals.

Turbo charge it

As well as getting all your team behind your client referral program, there are other things you should do to maximise your results

  • Emails - whenever you can include details of your referral program in any emails you send, also add a specific email as part of your SalonIQ guest journey. For example after the 2nd and 4th visits.
  • Social - ensure you post details on your Facebook and Instagram pages.
  • Mirror Decals/Point of Sale - to inform clients of how the scheme works
  • Cards - As well as texts you can also give your guest physical referral cards, and remember if you give out cards, give a minimum of 3 at a time fr best results. When you get a card back, process it in SalonIQ to ensure the referring client is thanked and that you can track all referrals.
  • Website - ensure your website has a refer a friend area.

Tweaking it

We appreciate when you use GAS, texts cost money so you need to be efficient with it.  For example if you have team members that either do not talk about it, or a team member that does not wish to do it then you can exclude them from it.

The SalonIQ GAS system is very flexible and can be adapted if you wish. For example, Trying different  promotions and changing the frequency of messages
