This guide will show you how to set up and process tips which are then transferred to the team members Revolut bank account.
SalonIQ now enables tips to be transferred directly to team members bank accounts. Each team member will be responsible for declaring their tips to HMRC by completing an annual self assessment tax return.
To receive tips, every team member needs to sign up for a free Revolut account.

Step 1
Creating Your Revolut Account
Scan the QR code to download the Revolut app. This can also be found in SalonIQ by going to Menu > Settings > Team Members > Team Members > Open Team Member > IQ Tips.
Below you will see the information you will need when setting up a new Revolut bank account.
If you already have an existing Revolut account then you will not need to create a new one.
Personal Information:
Full name
Date of birth
Residential address
Contact Details:
Valid email address
Mobile phone number (this is used for account verification and login)
Identity Verification:
Government-issued ID (such as a passport, driving license, or national ID card)
A selfie or live photo to match with the ID for security purposes
You do not need to order a physical card, monies can be transferred or you can use your revolut on apple pay for free. If you would like to order a card the card is free but there maybe a delivery fee applied.
Step 2
How to find your Revolut tag. (This is needed for set up in SalonIQ).
Log into your Revolut app on your phone, then in the top left hand side click on your initials.
Your Revolut tag is highlighted below not including the @ symbol. You will need to ensure that you have all team members Tags before setting up in SalonIQ.
Any team members under the age of 18 will NOT be able to have a Revolut account and will be excluded from Tips.
In order to use IQ Tips on Revolut all team members must have their Revolut account connected in their team member settings. Any team member without a Revolut account will not be asked for a tip at the checkout screen.
How to set up taking tips through Revolut on SalonIQ
Menu > Settings > Salons > IQ Tips
- Transfer tips for team members - This toggle needs to be in green.
- Ask for tips online - Coming soon!
- Track Tips In-Salon - This is on by default when the Transfer Tips to Team Member and Track Tips is ON.
- Split Tips automatically - This is on by default when the Transfer Tips to Team Member and Track Tips is ON.
- Team referred as - Enter in the name you would like to show on the terminal. e.g. Stylist, Therapist, Barber or Practitioner. Note: You can only have one name in this field.
- Smart Tips Threshold - This will be the minimum spend the client needs to pay when prompted to leave a tip on the card terminal.
- Tips Percentage - This would offer the client a % of the bill total
- Tips Values - This would offer the client a value to tip the team member
You need to complete this step before adding your Revolut tag
How to add in your Team Members Tags to SalonIQ
Menu > Settings > Team Members > Team Members > Open Team and click IQ Tips
Enter in the team members Revolut Tag (minus the @ sign), click on update. You will then be notified that the Revolut tag has been saved. Click Save.
IMPORTANT
Your Team Members First Name and Surname need to match in SalonIQ and Revolut. If the Tag does not save you will need to amend the Team Members name in SalonIQ.
Example 1 - Name in SalonIQ is Cara Mottram but in Revolut the name is Cara Goodwin the tag will not be saved on SalonIQ.
Example 2 - Name in SalonIQ is Alex Jones but in Revolut it shows as Alexandra Jones then the name in SalonIQ will need to be changed to Alexandra.
Once the tag is saved you can then amend the names back to the previous ones if required.
How does the client leave a tip on the terminal
When the client is taken to checkout and pays by card, they will asked if they'd like to leave a tip and be given several value or percentage options.
Skip - This will allow the client to skip and not leave a tip
The client can choose a tip set by you or press custom if they wish to enter in their own amount.

NOTE
On the terminal you will see Include .66p Charge (see above image) - When this is toggled on the client will pay for .66p platform fee (This is ON be default).
If the client turns this toggle off then the team member would pay for the platform fee. This would then be removed from the Team Members tip amount before the tip is transferred to the team member. E.g. A client pays a £5.00 tip, they switch the toggle off for the Platform fee, so the Team Member would receive £4.34 in their Revolut bank account.
The team member will then receive a notification on their phone via the Revolut app to show that the tip has immediately been transferred into their Revolut bank account.
Important Information for your Team
Your team will be responsible for declaring any tips going through on SalonIQ in the same way they do for cash tips. You can find more information on this by going to Menu > Settings > Team Members > Team Members > IQ Tips
